Zama and applications
What is zama
Zamak is a family of alloys based on zinc with small amounts of aluminium, magnesium and copper.
The name derives from the chemical composition of the elements that make up the alloy and has its roots in the German “Zamak”:
- Z zinc
- A aluminium
- Ma magnesium
- K copper
Zamak is therefore a family of alloys, of which there are different types identified by various abbreviations based on the percentage of the elements they contain.
Today, zamak has conquered the market thanks to its properties, which make it a material with higher performance characteristics than others.
It is easy to form with a low melting point and high fluidity, hygienic and resistant to acids and alkalis, and last but not least it is a material that allows sustainable and environmentally responsible production.
